Technical and Security |
Q: How secure is WorldPay? A: WorldPay uses state of the art security tools and techniques, both proprietary and unique, to ensure that you and your shopper are protected against what is nowadays a virtually non-existent risk. Our systems also have inbuilt system redundancy and fault tolerance, to provide you with a virtually uninterrupted service 24 hours a day, seven days a week. WorldPay have been in business since 1993, the systems are fully secure and bank endorsed, and utilise a range of industry standard. Q: What level of encryption do you have on the WorldPay server? A: WorldPay use Thawte 2048 bit encryption systems. At the browser 128 Bit SSL is used. Q: If the shopper keys in their card details at home or in the office, surely they are not encrypted until after they arrive at the WorldPay system? A: Using industry standard SSL, Thawte and WorldPay unique encryption systems, this is not actually the case. When the shopper fills in the payment form and clicks the submit button, their details are not sent straight away. What actually happens is that a secure link is set up between the shopper's browser and WorldPay and an encryption code is requested and received, which then wraps the order and transaction details before leaving the shoppers premises. |
On Fraud Prevention Management |
WorldPay supply very sophisticated, cutting edge card checking and authorisation systems that enable client to trade online. These systems have been developed over several years, use state of the art technology and undergo regular scrutiny from our banking and other strategic partners to ensure that they conform to their high standards. The systems are modified regularly to incorporate not only, additional functionality and flexibility, but also to build in additional checks to ensure that client account is not compromised by fraudsters in the same way as those operated by many other payment system suppliers. Our systems, being necessarily automated due to the vast amount of transactions passing through them, can detect abnormal usage patterns and check databases of previously fraudulent transactions, but regular scrutiny 'by eye' assists to some extent in isolating potentially fraudulent transactions that cannot be detected automatically. Then, WorldPay would advise the client as accordingly and legal actions would be taken against the fraudsters. |
