Event Info Lecture Abstract: Nik Aziz Nik Mat, thespiritual leader of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) is perhaps one themost important religio-political figures in Malaysia since the 1970s. Hispassing in Feb 2015 has a major impact on PAS and Malaysian politics Thisseminar seeks to analyse the impact of his passing on the internal politics ofPAS. The speaker will address the issue of PAS’ internal division and itsimpact on the opposition Pakatan Rakyat coalition. Issues such as PAS’ recentattempt to implement Islamic criminal laws in Malaysia and the recent jailingof Anwar Ibrahim will also be assessed. About the Speaker: Ustaz Mohd KhalilAbdul Hadi is the deputy youth chief of the Pan Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS).He is the eldest son of PAS President, Abdul Hadi Awang.
