Event Info

In the last three to four decades there has been a proliferation of internationally joined-up global supply chains leveraging on advances in information, communication and transport technologies which have allowed businesses to internationalize their operations across multiple locations in order to increase efficiency, lower costs and speed up production.

World trade volumes have seen a huge increase in open account transaction over the recent years with more than 80 % of world trade volumes settled on open account terms. Open account financing structures to support financing needs of buyers & suppliers in these complex global supply chains are broadly classified as ‘Supply Chain Finance’.

Supply Chain Finance (SCF) is defined as the use of financing and risk mitigation practices and techniques to optimise the management of the working capital and liquidity invested in supply chain processes and transactions.

The session will help students gain an understanding of the different SCF structured offered by banks to corporates. These include

  2. Forfaiting

  3. Factoring and its variations

  4. Payables Finance

  1. Loan or Advance-based SCF category

Speaker Background

Vivek Gupta – Head of Product Development, Tin Hill Capital

Vivek has over 20 years of experience in trade finance having held leadership roles in various global banks in the region. He was most recently the Head of Trade and Working Capital for Barclays Bank, India and prior to that he was the Trade & Supply Chain Sales Head for HSBC Singapore and the Trade Head for JP Morgan India and Deutsche Bank, Indonesia.

Vivek holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics & Communications) from Birla Institute of Technology, India and a MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, India.
