Event Highlights
At this networking event, several NTU entrepreneur alumni will be invited to speak on their entrepreneurship stories and experience. Dr Xia Zhi Qiang, the Program Director of MSc Technopreneurship and Innovation program of Nanyang Technopreneurship Center, will share information about this NTU master’s entrepreneurship program and give a talk on: Entrepreneurial Thinking and Innovation.
Entrepreneurship’s mission is to penetrate the fog of uncertainty to discover a successful path to a sustainable business. The conventional belief on failure to deliver business results is due to either unable to plan adequately or unable to execute properly. However, planning and forecasting are only accurate when based on a long, stable operating history and a relatively stable environment. The current business environment is characterised by increasingly high levels of unpredictability, uncertainty and ambiguity. As such, entrepreneurs need a specific mindset with key principles in stark contrast to the conventional wisdom or theories taught in traditional business or management schools. There is a method leading entrepreneurs to go beyond knowing and talking and get to apply and act. This seminar illustrates how uncertainty affects entrepreneurial thinking and behaviour and in what ways expert entrepreneurs differ from novices in terms of the principles and approaches they adopt in real entrepreneurial practices. Building on this, design thinking as a practical method for entrepreneurs working on product or service innovation will be introduced with real-life cases to inspire innovative thinking and creativity of the seminar participants.
This event is jointly organised by NTU Nanyang Technopreneurship Center and Alumni Affairs Office, supported by NTU Alumni Association (Vietnam) and sponsored by the Master of Science Technopreneurship & Innovation Programme (MSc TIP). A limited number of Entrepreneurship Study Award* of up to SGD30,000 each, is available for qualified international candidates to pursue the MSc TIP.
