Colliding and Surrendering: chaos and freedom where art and technologies meet

An International Symposium and Exhibition

11-13 OCTOBER 2017

Web site https://onoff100101010.com/

This symposium and exhibition in Singapore will present artworks curated in joint collaboration with Web3D Art Gallery, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Brisbane, University New South Wales Art & Design (UNSW) Sydney, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore, Centre for Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS), School of Art, Design and Media (ADM), and NTU Art & Heritage Museum with Media Art Nexus NTU (MAN).

Based around interdisciplinary and hybrid approaches to media art, the symposium examines artistic expressions from visualizations of microscopic plankton to the abstract poetics of a flight pattern database. The primary emphasis is on the process of fusing a variety of techniques including scientific imaging, digital animation, generative art and data-driven art.

Fourteen international research institutions, media labs, and cultural enterprises will be using Media Art Nexus NTU as a platform to display new media art created by interdisciplinary teams: UCLA Design|Media Arts Programme, UCLA Art|Sci Center and California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI); the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Science Visualization Lab Die Angewandte; Empowerment Informatics Program (EMP) at the University of Tsukuba Japan; Expanded Perception & Interaction Center (EPIC) at the University New South Wales Art & Design (UNSW); School of Engineering and Digital Arts, University of Kent (EDA); URBANSCREEN GmbH & Co. KG; Art & Design, Auckland University of Technology (AUT); Valparaiso University (Valpu) Purdue University Northwest (PNW); National Research University of Electronic Technology Moscow (MIET); Parsons School of Design New York (Parsons); Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU), School of Art, Design and Media (ADM), NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore (NTU CCA) and NTU Art & Heritage Museum with Media Art Nexus NTU.

The Symposium in Singapore is made possible by generous support from NTU Centre for Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS), School of Art, Design and Media (ADM), College of Humanities, Arts and Social Science, and NTU Art & Heritage Museum.
