Work-Family Research: From Chronic to Episodic Approaches

Abstract

Research on the work-life interface has exploded over the past 40 years, triggered by an evolving global workforce comprised of an increasing number of employees who must simultaneously manage substantial care-giving responsibilities and work responsibilities. Today’s workers are frequently faced with conflicting demands between their work and their family roles. This lecture will include discussion of research designed to better understand the experience of work-family conflict through the assessment of discrete episodes and physiological reaction data.
