Event Info Aim: This workshop is designed to improve the communication skills of researchers when presenting their work to a broad range of audiences including experts from other disciplines, policy makers, members of the public, funding body committees and journalists. Content: Many researchers find it challenging to share the results of their research with a wide audience that includes people who may not be scientists or may not be familiar with their field. This workshop will equip participants to be more impactful and engaging when communicating with a broad range of audiences. Topics will include: understanding the audience and their interests; creating a communication strategy; demystifying jargon, engaging non-specialists and using social media. Outcomes: As a result of attending this workshop, participants will be more impactful and engaging when communicating with a broad range of audiences about their research.
