Event Info ‘The problem of defining Singapore cinema and its films is the problem of identifying what we mean by ‘Singapore’, that is, the idea or identity of the nation rather than the geopolitical territory or material place of Singapore itself’ (Lim, 2018, p. 9). The symposium will be held online on 23rd September 2021 with keynote address by Dr. Edna Lim (National University of Singapore) and including a screening of a notable retro film via the Asian Film Archive. The aim is to publish the papers presented in book-form or journal special issue after the event.
