Exemplifying the Emperor? China and the World of Xi Jinping after the 20th Party Congress.

The 20th party congress in October 2022 will mark a full decade of China under President Xi's rule. Trends in Chinese foreign policy over the years have suggested a much more muscular and assertive China which has generated anxieties among many countries. At the same time, economic slowdown and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic has not left China unscathed. What then, will the future of China be like in the coming years? What are some of the challenges and opportunities that China would face, both domestically and internationally? As an observer of Chinese politics, Benjamin Ho will discuss some of the implications arising from the 20th party congress and some of the possible future directions in China's relations with the world.
