Event Info

The Scholarly Communication & Impact seminar aims to equip new graduate students to enter the scholarly world. Participants will be introduced to concepts that they would typically encounter as researchers, such as scenarios on Open Access requirements, managing their research data, developing their researcher persona and using Library Tools and Services.

This workshop will be conducted in Team-Based Learning (TBL) format where participants will be given pre-session readings that they must complete before their session. These readings will be used to answer questions and solve problems both individually and as a team during the session.

As there are limited spaces available for each session, do only register for the session that you are able to attend.

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

1. Identify the best scholarly metric to use to find the top journals in their relevant fields through a MCQ.

2. Compare the different library tools to obtain impactful and relevant scholarly resources when writing a thesis paper in an application question.

3. Explain the individual roles, risks and benefits associated with the open access movement provided by NTU library when submitting a thesis paper in an application question, according to NTU open access policy.

4. Demonstrate knowledge of best Research Practices to boost discoverability by creating a unique Researcher Identity (ORCID).

(Compulsory for all new PhD and Masters by Research students within first year of study)
