Title Advancing road energy harvesting systems and its feasibility for implementation in Singapore
Summary This project aims to investigate and determine the feasibility of implementing a hybrid energy harvesting system on Singapore's roads. By focusing on the integration of linear electromagnetic
generators and piezoelectric harvesters, the project will explore the conversion of mechanical energy from vehicular traffic into usable electrical energy. This work builds upon previous research on piezoelectric applications in MRT stations, extending the concept to roads.

Project objectives are to conduct literature review on roadway energy harvesting technologies, focusing on piezoelectric and linear generator systems. The review will identify their respective
advantages, limitations, and optimal deployment scenarios. The student is expected to develop a small-scale, hybrid prototype that integrates both a linear generator and piezoelectric elements to power lighting-based loads.

Additionally, the feasibility of deploying this technology on roads will be explored to assess its potential for wider application in Singapore’s transport network.
