Title Smart Charging Strategies for Arboretum Sap Flow Meters
Summary The objective of this project is to design an external smart circuit for the SFM to mitigate battery damage caused by continuous uncontrolled charging. The scope covers characterising current SFM charging current profiles, implementing a smart charging cut-off logic circuit, and designing an enclosure to protect the circuit in arboretum environments. The significance of this study allows improvement to battery longevity and reduces the frequency of battery maintenance in environmental sensor networks. This will allow a safer and sustainable deployment of IoT devices in arboretums.
