Title Developing a Machine Learning Model for Microbial Forensic Analysis
Summary This project aims to develop and evaluate a machine learning model for identifying forensic signatures in bacterial genomes. Using publicly available and in-house sequencing data from Acinetobacter and Burkholderia species, the student will implement and compare different machine learning classifiers to detect genetic features indicative of unusual mutations. The student will preprocess genomic data, extract relevant features, and train models to predict various strains. Performance will be evaluated using precision, recall, and accuracy metrics, with cross-validation to ensure robustness. This project provides hands-on experience in computational biology, data science, and AI-driven forensic analysis.
