Title Characterization of quantum cascade lasers (a)
Summary Mid-infrared semiconductor laser has attracted a lot of attention in recent years due to its broadband feature in the mid-infrared wavelength range, in which there are many important applications including but not limited to biomedical sciences, imaging, security, spectroscopy, gas/chemical sensing, communications, military applications and astronomy sciences. Quantum cascade laser is one of the most developed semiconductor light source in the mid-infrared regime.

In this project, the prospective FYP student will focus on electrical and optical characterization of high performance mid-infrared lasers. After finishing the project, the student will learn how to characterize the performance of mid-infrared lasers, such as light-current, voltage-current, and spectra characteristics. Students with strong interests in experiments are expected.
