Title | Investigating the Impact of Antibiotic Combinations on Bacterial Morphology Using High-Resolution Cytological Profiling |
Summary | This project focuses on examining how combinations of antibiotics influence bacterial cell morphology through high-resolution cytological profiling. Inspired by the study "High-Resolution Bacterial Cytological Profiling Reveals Subtle Changes in Cell Morphology" (mBio, vol. 14, no. 1, e03321-22, 2023), the student will treat bacterial cultures with various antibiotic pairs and utilize fluorescence microscopy to capture detailed images of cellular changes. The data from this study can be accessed at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9933734/. By applying image analysis techniques and statistical modeling, the student will identify unique morphological signatures associated with specific antibiotic combinations. This research aims to enhance understanding of synergistic or antagonistic interactions between antibiotics, contributing to more effective combination therapies. |
