Title Ceramic-Reinforced Carbon Fiber with Enhanced Mechanical and Temperature Stability
Summary Carbon fibres (CF) have found widespread applications in the development of light-weight composite materials for aerospace and automotive applications. In this project, approaches for incorporating CF with ceramic materials will be investigated for producing composites with good mechanical and thermal stabilities with the potential to withstand extremely high temperatures, impact, and abrasion. One of the main objectives of the project is to investigate direct synthesis methods or CF post-treatment approaches such as carbonization and infiltration to produce various composite materials, followed by their morphological, electrical, thermal, and mechanical characterization.
