Title Smart Fabrics Integrated with Fiber Sensor for Healthcare
Summary Fibers has been a powerful tool for biomedical sensing due to its flexibility and light weight for integration. This project aims to revolutionize the field of bio-sensing by developing and implementing cutting-edge fiber optic technologies. This project harnesses the unique properties of advanced fibers to enable highly sensitive, real-time, and accurate detection of biological analytes and molecules. By leveraging the power of light and modern nanotechnology, this bio-sensing platform has the potential to impact healthcare.

Students will learn how to hand-made polymer photonic fibers through the project and integrated into flexible substrates, such as fabric materials to form a paper-based smart sensor. This can be a smart mask, smart diaper, or smart tissue paper for example. The sensor will then be used to detect cancer diseases for healthcare. Finally, real-time and accurate biosensing is realized through the amplification of biological signals by light. The fibers will be able to detect cancer and other diseases.
