Title wireless temperature sensor network for building energy management system: hardware modules
Summary A building energy management system require sensors to be distributed in the building to gather feedback information such as temperature for automated control. Wireless connectivity of these sensors are highly desired both for system cost reduction and for flexibility in implementation. Existing narrow band carrier wave based wireless sensors consume considerable energy for the wireless transmission of data and may not work in highly cluttered environments. Ultra wideband impulse radio may be the preferred wireless transmission media in such environments for its multipath resistance characteristics, low power and low cost architecture. In addition, it has in-built ability to determine the location of the sensor. In this project the student will develop hardware modules for a wireless temperature sensor network. MSP430 uC firmware programming is involved.
