| Title | Quantum materials for sensing technology down to single-molecule sensitivity |
| Summary | Highly sensitive biosensors are a vital pillar for the healthcare industry, such as early diagnosis, and continuous health monitoring. The importance of biosensing can't be emphasized more in the fight against the COVID pandemic. This project aims to develop a new sensing platform based on 2D materials, where the quantum confinement effects and quantum defects lead to strong interactions between biomolecules and the substrate. We will engineer high-density quantum defects to achieve sensitivity down to a single molecule level. The sensing capability of such a novel platform will be tested across various biomolecules. |
