Title Synthesis and study of piezoelectric nanomaterials
Summary It is known that piezoelectric materials produce electrical potential upon variations of applied pressure/stress. In this project, the student will be involved in synthesis of piezoelectric nanomaterials, like ZnO nanowires. The electrical, mechanical and piezoelectric properties of the materials will be characterized. The student is strongly encouraged to develop a simple force sensor in which piezoelectric nanomaterials will be employed as the sensing element. An overall understanding of the unique electrical, mechanical and piezoelectric properties of the materials defines satisfactory completion of the project.
