Title Little Rings, Big Resonances: Simulating a Basic Ring Resonator
Summary Ring resonators are at the heart of many photonic devices—from filters to sensors. You will design a simple ring resonator coupled to a straight waveguide in Tidy3D, examining how ring radius, coupling gap, and waveguide width impact resonance behavior. By modeling different configurations, you will get comfortable with the basics of resonance, free spectral range, and Q-factor—key concepts in integrated photonics.
