Title | Utilizing LED Tiles for a Robot Navigation Simulation Testbed |
Summary | 1. Introduction Developing autonomous robots requires rigorous testing in structured and controlled environments. Traditional navigation testbeds often lack flexibility in terrain simulation, limiting their effectiveness. This proposal presents the use of LED tiles to create a robot navigation simulation testbed, offering a programmable and configurable platform for testing robotic navigation algorithms. 2. Objectives · Develop a modular and reconfigurable testbed using LED tiles. · Simulate various navigation scenarios through pre-configured static visual patterns. 3. Technical Approach The testbed will consist of an array of LED tiles displaying predefined static patterns that represent different terrains, pathways, and obstacles. Robots equipped with vision or infrared sensors will interact with the LED tiles to perceive static environmental cues. These cues may include: · Virtual lane markings and paths. · Simulated static obstacles and hazards. · Fixed waypoints and goal indicators for route planning validation. 4. Expected Outcomes · Improved simulation realism by incorporating static navigation cues. · Enhanced robot perception and localization training. · Scalable platform adaptable for research, education, and industrial applications. 5. Prerequisites · Familiar with C++ and Python · Experience with ROS2 |
