Title Certificateless authentication scheme for the GNSS signal.
Summary Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS ) such as GPS from US and Beidou from China have become the prevalent and cardinal information feed for daily location based services such as Google map navigation. They have also become one of the important pillars in realization of smart nation initiatives such as autonomous car driving, drone delivery, industrial 4.0 and Internet of things (IoT) Artificial intelligence. However, the vulnerability of GNSS is highly exposed where numerous worldwide cases have revealed the GNSS signal can be easily spoofed resulting detrimental damages and can be a catastrophe event for nation if it is a nation attack.

This project has been awarded under Translational Research band Development for Application to Smart Nation (TRANS GRANT) with collaborators from University of Tokyo, University of Glasgow and Singapore Land Authority for the implementation of authentication scheme for the GNSS signal to ensure only authentic GNSS signal reach the GNSS receiver.

The student will need to create an authentication server for the GNSS signal. The student is expected to perform measurement of the authentic GNSS signal before and after the authentication for various key vulnerable areas.
