| Title | Genetic Algorithms for Sensing Applications |
| Objective | To implement genetic algorithms for sensor deployment optimization problems |
| Scope | For effective sensor networks, sensors have to be deployed in an efficient and optimal manner within a given space subject to various constraints and objectives. Objectives can be conflicting in nature, for example, to maximize the coverage of the sensors and yet trying to minimize the number of sensors used. A multi-objective genetic algorithm will be used to address this problem together with some local search techniques to generate in a short time a set of approximately efficient solutions that will allow the decision maker to choose a good compromise solution. The project will involve running and building upon an existing Matlab program to solve various sets of sensor deployment problems. |
