Title Analysis of EMG Signals for Hand Functions and Rehabilitation Tasks
Objective To develop a proper control system of the exisitng hand exoskeleton for rehabilitation
Scope This project will first focus on the study of the working principle of the hand exoskeleton. Secondly, the student needs to get familiar with the different control strategies such as Impedance control, Adaptive control, Patient-Driven Motion Reinforcement (PDMR) control. Thirdly, suitable software is chosen to implement the control algorithm on the hand exoskeleton using bio-feedback (EMG signals). Finally, the motion control system will be developed not only enables enhanced rehabilitation but also provides assessment of the progress of rehabilitation in terms of specific and objective performance indices easy to understand to clinicians. The device will utilize online informationto make smart decisions about how to progress a patient in motor practice. It will be operated by intelligent control algorithm to monitor patients condition and recommend suitable treatment program for clients in different stages and require different rehabilitation routines and patterns. The system with control and monitoring capability, which can replicate such motor pattern training, offer a potential solution to enhance motor recovery and to understand motor control better.
