Title A robotic system for marking cracks in aircraft engine liners
Objective To further develop a system for locating and marking cracks in aircraft engine lines for later repair purposes. Cracks are searched by the means of a camera and adapted illumination conditions and marked using a special robot arm.
Scope Previous work on illumination conditions and a prototype of the arm and visual system is to be examined and improved on. Main work is on 1) the integration of a camera into the existing system. 2) to experiment and to improve on the mechanical/electonic/software components of the system. 3) To conduct an evaluation of the new system with respect to it's usability in industry.
Prerequisites Basic C programming skills. The project gives the opportunity to apply some AI tools (optional).
