| Title | A Sidescan Imaging System for the Automated Imaging of Inland Waterways. |
| Objective | Visibility in waterways are generally very poor. Using normal light camera systems, it would be very difficult to perform high resolution image of the waterways. Ultrasound imaging provides oppurtunities unavailable using normal cameras. Without ambient illumination, imaging is impossible. Ultrasould imaging do not have such limitations but are of lower resolution. |
| Scope | This is an ongoing project. There is available a remotely controlled system capable of profiling the bottom of lakes and other inland waterways. Investigations into the efficacy of sidescan ultrasonic imaging has been investigated. The scope of this project is to continue work on the existing system, to finally realise a fully automated system for the location of object or drowned victims in the water. |
