| Title | Blood Pressure Measurement using a Single Transducer |
| Objective | To investigate the feasibility of a new blood pressure sensor using a single piece of soft piezoelecric material. |
| Scope | In MAE, a model of dynamic transducer called transduction matrix was proposed and proved that dynamic measurement can be performed by a single transducer when it excites a object dynamically. The formation of the transduction matrix is correlated with the two extreme boundary conditions (clamped and free) of the object under measurement. It is similar to the measurement of the systotic and diastotic blood pressurs are the pressure measured from the blood vessel under two extreme loading conditions respectively. It is therefore that in this project the conventions of blood pressure measurement will be connected to the concept of Transduction Matrix so that a piece of piezoelectric material could detect the two blood pressure values. This project is challenging because the students will need to understand the concept of Transduction Matrix and existing blood pressure measurement method properly and then develop suitable test method to confirm the concept. |
