Event Info
The Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information invites academics, industry practitioners, researchers and students to join our 1-day symposium on managing knowledge in the world of social media.
The symposium will delve into three main topics:
#1: The tectonic shifts in the way we live, work and play.
Some jobs will permanently be lost but new ones are being created. Social media facilitates convenient communication but there are inherent privacy risks. How do we capture changes brought about by social media to our advantage?
#2: The ever-growing body of user-generated content.
Constantly bombarded with these online contents, it is difficult to make sense of the events and opinions around us. How do we overcome the problem of information overload?
#3: The rise of misinformation and disinformation.
It is now increasingly hard for us to differentiate between what is real and false. How do we deal with fake news?
