Scoping reviews are an increasingly popular form of evidence synthesis. They serve to map the literature on a particular research topic, identify key themes and outline gaps in the evidence. The aim of this workshop is to introduce participants to basic concepts of undertaking a scoping review.  

Topics covered will include: 

  • definition of a scoping review
  • difference between scoping and systematic reviews
  • examples of scoping reviews
  • scoping reviews methods
  • reporting of scoping reviews

About the Presenter:

Assistant Professor Lorainne Tudor Car is an Assistant Professor of Evidence Based Medicine at LKC Medicine and an Honorary Senior Research Fellow in Department of Primary Care and Public Health, Imperial College London. Asst Prof Tudor Car is a methods editor to the Cochrane Public Health Group and Campbell Knowledge Translation and Implementation group. She is a methodological lead for a global, World Health Organisation evidence synthesis initiative on digital education for healthcare workforce development. Dr Tudor Car is also a lead for the LKC Medicine PhD programme module on systematic reviews and evidence synthesis.
