Event Info

Join us for an introduction to Tableau, one of the most widely-used data analytics and visualisation tools today. Using an intuitive drag-and-drop interface, it enables users to analyse their data and build interactive visualisations without the need for any coding skills. With the exponential growth in data, it is crucial to master the art of data visualisation and communication, to capture the attention of stakeholders and share highlights of your research or projects effectively. A purposeful data visualisation strategy enables us to tell compelling stories and discover interesting patterns and insights. In this workshop, we will discuss some of the visual best practices using real world examples, followed by an introductory hands-on session with Tableau Public (free version).

Outline:
1. Connect to various types of data sources
2. Prepare and transform your data for analysis
3. Build assorted types of data visualisation
4. Map geographic data
5. Apply data filtering and calculated fields
6. Create interactive charts and dashboards to summarise data and provide dynamic reports

Requirement
Basic IT proficiency. No prior knowledge or experience of data analytics is required.

Course Logistics
To participate in this hands-on workshop, you would need to install the free version of Tableau Public (https://public.tableau.com/en-us/s/download) on your PC.
