Understanding How Values Motivate and Drive You

by Ms Marion Nicole Teo

19 Oct 2022, Wed | 10.30am – 12noon | Livestream

About the seminar:

Who you are, what you hold dear, what upsets you and what underlies your decisions, are all connected to your personal values. Your values reflect what is important to you, they are a shorthand way of describing your motivations. Values are often referred to as our personal guiding principles or life goals. These guide our beliefs and attitudes, which are the factors that drive our behaviours and decision-making in all aspects of our life, including our home life, our work life and our social life. Understanding our values allows us to put the important things first and prioritise tasks. This helps us achieve better time management, which leads to faster and more effective progress. It also helps us avoid making decisions that are not in line with our long term goals or purpose. Values help us predict other people’s choices as well as avoid misunderstandings, frustration and distrust. Understanding that other people have a different set of values that guide them toward different decisions, will help you better understand them better.
