About the seminar:

Mismanaged and chronic stress is one of the main drivers of poor physical and mental health – but did you know that we can transform distress into eustress to boost our performance and well-being? In this session, find out how the biopsychosocial-spiritual approach can help answer these questions! Exploring the role of gut-brain axis and social support, the speakers will share about building resilience to stress. You will also get to craft a self-care plan for immediate and long-term action, to help you achieve a life that you value.

 

About the speakers:

Nurliyana Daros holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from NUS’ Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health. She is a lecturer at NTU, specialising in the teaching of interdisciplinary and collaborative core courses in the area of healthy living and wellbeing. In her sociological and public health research, as well as in her policy work and community engagement, she focuses on designing a more inclusive future, especially for youths, women and vulnerable populations.  

Ong Yi Ling is a lecturer at NTU, specialising in the teaching of interdisciplinary and collaborative core courses in the area of healthy living and wellbeing. She derives meaning in guiding individuals back to their strengths and values. Skilled in curriculum development in subjects from narrative thinking to active and effective citizenry, Yi Ling was a module coordinator and has taught children, youths and adults from primary to tertiary institutions.  

*Do note that students are required to stay for 75% of the seminar duration in order to get their attendance endorsed.
