Introduction to Psychological First Aid

by Mr Joshua Koh

26 Apr 2023, Wed | 10.30am – 12noon | Livestream

About the seminar:

Psychological First Aid has become a popular skill for many schools and corporate organizations. This course focuses on providing participants with a basic understanding of what healthy emotional supporting looks like, as well as the dos and don’ts when supporting peers who are in a heightened state of distress. This session will share how to identify signs of someone in distress and offer initial help. Participants will be learning how to share care using active listening (verbal and non-verbal communication), and be a peer supporter at the workplace.

About the speaker:

Joshua is a clinical member and registered counsellor with the Singapore Association for Counselling. Having worked at a Family Service Centre previously, Joshua has years of experience counselling individuals (anger management issues, grief and loss issues, intrapersonal/sense of self issues), couples (marital conflict, building intimacy) and family (parenting issues, parent-child relationship, attachment issues). Joshua believes that knowing how to take care of one’s mental well-being is extremely important as it can impact a person’s quality of life.

*Do note that students are required to stay for 75% of the seminar duration in order to get their attendance endorsed.
