Creative Thinking for Postgraduate Students

by Dr Elaine Walsh

10 January 2024, Wed | 10.30am – 12noon | Livestream

About the seminar:

This webinar topic from Dr Walsh will explore creative thinking, especially as it applies in the postgraduate study and in technical subjects. It will be particularly useful for students with research experience and from a technical or scientific background. Participants will have a better understanding of how to maximize their own creativity and apply it in their postgraduate life and beyond.

About the speaker:

With a background as a Chartered Engineer in aerospace engineering, Elaine is a freelance soft skills development consultant and an expert in doctoral education and career management. For more than ten years, Elaine led the team responsible for postgraduate professional development at Imperial College London, supporting more than 6000 graduate students in realising both academic and career goals. During this time, the innovation and impact of her team’s work were recognised by two national awards and resulted in numerous invitations to partner with internationally leading universities including NTU, HKU, MIT, and Tsinghua University. Elaine continues to research on doctoral education issues including the evaluation of skills development courses, the wellbeing of researchers and the role of creativity in scientific research.
