About the seminar: The seminar aims to increase the self-awareness of participants to look at how they manage change, including their automatic negative thoughts that maintain resistance to change. Using concepts from Basic Ph model of coping and resiliency (Lahad, 2017), the predominant coping mechanism are explored. The hands-on session examines the participants’ relationship with change and enables them to identify their predominant coping mechanism.
About the speaker: Malar, a Singapore Registered Psychologist, has been working with children and youth for more than 30 years. She started her career in education as a teacher for 9 years. She also provided support during school crises. She moved on to provide clinical supervision of school counsellors, supervised the supervisors and was involved in policy development and research in school counselling in Ministry of Education till May 2022. She is currently the Head of the University Counselling Centre at NTU. She is an active volunteer in the community supporting children and youth, as well as conducting training in mental health and crisis management..
