About the seminar:

This webinar will enable participants to expand their knowledge and understanding of leadership through the exploration of leadership attributes, styles and behaviours. They will see how postgraduate study develops transferable skills essential for leadership. Leadership is an essential and complex skill which is highly prized by employers. This workshop will discuss the different styles of leadership and a leadership model based on the required behaviours of a successful leader. Participants will be equipped to reflect upon, and discuss their leadership potential developed through academic experience.  

 

About the speaker:

With a background as a Chartered Engineer in aerospace engineering, Elaine is a freelance soft skills development consultant and an expert in doctoral education and career management. For more than ten years, Elaine led the team responsible for postgraduate professional development at Imperial College London, supporting more than 6000 graduate students in realising both academic and career goals. During this time, the innovation and impact of her team’s work were recognised by two national awards and resulted in numerous invitations to partner with internationally leading universities including NTU, HKU, MIT, and Tsinghua University. Elaine continues to research on doctoral education issues including the evaluation of skills development courses, the wellbeing of researchers and the role of creativity in scientific research.
