The LKCMedicine Good Research Practice Office (GRPO), in collaboration with NTU Research Integrity and Ethics Office, NTU Library and LKCMedicine Office of Faculty Affairs will be holding a face-to-face workshop on ‘Realising your authorship potential” at LKC Medicine, Novena Campus, HQ Level 2 Seminar room, on 26 Aug 2024, 12-2pm. Historically, authorship had significant academic, social and financial implication for a research scientist, often centring on evaluating intrinsic potential and productivity of scientists at different stages of their careers.  Authorship also implies responsibility and accountability for the published work. This workshop will focus on authorship from different multiple angles - From recommended criteria that warrants authorship, to differentiating acknowledgements from authorship, to questionable authorship/ publication practices and lastly, to maximising publication success, reach and impact.  We encourage all those involved in research to attend this highly valuable workshop.

Topics:

  • Authorship criteria & affiliation
  • Authorship vs. acknowledgement
  • Proper authorship practices
  • Guidelines for ethical writing
  • Preventing authorship disputes
  • Author identifiers & research metrics
  • Where to publish
